Our daughter is on Eveline Day and we moved there recently so went through the same debate of which school is best. I do expect you will hear good things about both schools so maybe best to try and visit (hard these days, I know). The head at Eveline does meet with parents on Saturday mornings so that could be an option.

Eveline is a fairly small school so something to take into account. Some kids may perform better on a bigger setting. It has worked well for us though. They focus a lot on arts and drama (there are weekly drama lessons for example) but there is also a focus on writing, reading and maths. We get homework weekly and it seems to be a good balance. The children do PE twice a weekly and from Y2 (or Y3...would need to check) they also have weekly swimming lessons. They are very focused on pastoral care so the children all seem very happy.

Another point to raise is that Eveline is open from 7:30-6:30 (although they are now closing at 5:30 to allow for one hour of deep clean). They are also open during holidays so the kids can actually go school during these weeks - although they don't have lessons, just do fun activities. So if both parents are working this is great.

My two girls aged 5 and 7 (Years 1 and 3) go to Parkgate House and absolutely love it. It's a small school and definitely has that family feel to it, all the teachers know all the kids by name which is lovely. Also, they focus a lot on pastoral care and building up students' resilience, in fact the headmaster developed a resilience scale which now has been published and is being used by other schools across the UK.

They offer various clubs (Drama, Sports, Handwriting, Science, Arts, Coding etc.) and also offer a daily Early Bird and After School Club. Ballet/Karate, Arts, PE, Music, Drama etc. are all part of the curriculum. Unfortunately they don't do Swimming and Horseriding at the moment due to Covid restrictions but that would normally be once a week.

They offer warm school lunches but you can also bring your own. They give the students lots of opportunities throughout the school year to speak/perform in front of the class or whole school and during parents' assemblies and they absolutely love the shows they're putting together! The staff are lovely and very caring and due to small class sizes every student gets individual care and attention.
What my girls particularly enjoy is that the year groups are interacting with each other frequently so not only do they get to know their peers but also the younger AND the more senior students throughout the school.

They have a "house" system, each student is part of one of four houses. They are competing against each other during the whole academic year, do different challenges and are collecting house points individually as well as in teams. The house points are being announced by the head boy or girl during the weekly assembly. The winner gets the trophy which is always a very big deal!

One of the negative points to consider are facilities. Due to its small size, they don't have any sports facilities. They're using the Common a lot and ballet/karate as well as assemblies takes place at the Devas on Stormont Road. There is an Arts room however, tiny but the kids like it!
