To all our lovely customers,
Following the Government’s decision to take the country into a second lockdown this year, we are sad to let you know that our shop will be closed again from Thursday the 5th November despite our constant effort to ensure that your and our staff’s health and safety were never at risk.
This year has been challenging for everybody and especially small retailers like us who have had to adapt in order to keep their head above water and now face increasing competition from online giants. Our shop was unable to trade during our busiest time (May/June) and now possibly during our second busiest time (the run-up to Christmas), while their businesses kept growing and having a dreadful knock-on effect on the high street which is shrinking at a horrific pace.
We need your kind support (sorry to ask again).

All we are asking is that you please, please keep us in mind during lockdown and continue to shop with us. Maybe shop for Christmas presents? It is never too early! Also, do send your husband, wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, partner (if you have one) or whoever you think deserves seeing you in a new set of lingerie, gorgeous nightwear or even some swimwear for when all this becomes a bad memory and the beaches reopen.

Anyway, what we mean to say is that no online retailer will ever give you the attention that we do, provide the personal touch that we have given all of our customers for the last 17 years, laugh with you, share our passion with you and send you home not only with a lovely bag full of lovely bits but more importantly with a big smile on your face!
Some of you may ask why we do not sell online. The reason is simple. Each bra comes in 18 different sizes or so, on average. We cannot afford to sell five to an online customer and for them to return four within the next 28 days. Every time we sell out of a size, you see, we buy it in again. Just imagine the stock control, cash flow and storage nightmare this would quickly become for us. We wouldn’t be able to do that AND, at the same time, run a shop with the level of personal service we pride ourselves in giving.
All of the team at Amelie’s Follies are passionate about what we do and, cheesy as it may sound, we are passionate about our customers too. Yes, that’s you!
So this is how we propose to keep looking after you until the end of Lockdown Part II.
- We will be offering a “Click & Collect” service from the boutique throughout lockdown. We can also offer complimentary shipping in case you are unable come to the shop. If you choose that option, we will kindly ask you to remain patient, as we won’t be able to go to the post office on a daily basis.
- Remember that we have your measurements on file, we know what you like, what you have bought in the past and it will be easy to work out what it is that you want or your Santa may want to get for you. Just ask! Give us a few clues (colour, smooth or lace, fashion or basic) and we (or sanitised Santa) will surprise you with some gorgeous lingerie. Let us keep providing you with the same level of personal service as usual, even during lockdown.
- You can chat with us via Whatsapp, video call, email or simply on the phone. We are there for you. We can send you pictures or videos of our collections, provide tailored advice based on your bra size and personal taste or preference. And we can help your chosen Santa just as easily… Your purchase history, which, again, we have on file, will make shopping super easy for everybody.
- If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, pre or post breast surgery, please do get in touch. We will endeavour to welcome you in our store safely for a proper fitting. Nobody, even the men (and Priti Patel) at Downing Street will argue that these don’t qualify as essential purchases!
