Acupuncture?

Postby mrspickle » Tue Jul 26, 2011 9:27 pm

We've been trying to conceive our 2nd for over a year now and several people have recommended acupuncture. I've always been a bit dubious about whether this sort of thing really helps but am getting to the stage where I'm keen to try anything! Would anyone have a name of someone tried and tested that they would recommend?

I haven't had personal experience of this but I know of people who strongly recommend Zita West: http://www.zitawest.com/area.php?section=14&item=85

I don't know if it just a coincidence but in the same month I tried acupuncture for the first time, I conceived my second baby. It's very relaxing too so I guess there's nothing to lose by trying?

I've used it post-miscarriage and also to help bring labour on. In the first instance, I found it really helped me sort out my emotions etc (it was 2 weeks before my wedding) and 'cleared' me physically from it IMO.

One year on, I was needing help bringing on labour (as I wanted to avoid being induced). While it didn't actually start it, I was in labour within 10 mins of induction starting, rather than having to patrol hospital corridors for hours on end. Another in my NCT group had exactly the same experience.

So while it's not a direct answer to your question, I would really recommend giving it a go - there's certainly nothing to lose, and in both my situations I've found that it helped.

The first time I saw Judi at the Awareness Centre, who was lovely and specialises in fertility etc. http://www.theawarenesscentre.com/compl ... erapy.html

The second time I went to Tom Ings (equally lovely) in Balham, as did my NCT friend - http://www.acupuncturecollective.co.uk/ ... ner1.shtml.

Good luck!

Acupuncture can certainly help with conception, as can hypnotherapy.

I've had good success in helping clients get pregnant. If you want to find out more do give me a call or visit my website.

I've had acupuncture post miscarriage twice and have got pregnant quite quickly each time, so although that's not a direct answer to your question I think there's nothing to lose and I found it really helped with the emotional side too.
Try Southfields Clinic (Adrian Stoddart).

I used Feng, a chinese acupuncturist now based in Knightsbridge (she was based in Colliers Wood when I went so she must be doing well now!) She's a lovely lady and has many, many years experience in fertility acupuncture.

I had trouble conceiving and went to see Emma Cannon who specialises in fertility and pregnancy. Her website is http://www.ahealthyconception.co.uk/ and coupled with Chinese herbs I got pregnant on the first attempt - twice!

I would definitely recommend her as well as Michael McIntyre for the herbs - they might taste unpleasant but I felt they worked as well or even better than the acupuncture on me.

Best of luck!

Hi! I too have used Emma Cannon and would highly recommend. I initially went there for pregnancy (IVF) and we were successful 1st try. My husband also ended up going and found it so good he's about to start going back of his own accord! We're also about to start trying for our 2nd and will definately be going back to Emma. Best of luck.
