Hello I am the chair of the Friends of Clapham Common, and I wasn’t sure where to post this but if COVID has taught us one thing, it is the importance of our open green spaces to our mental health and physical well-being and we are so lucky to have Clapham Common on our doorstep. For this reason can I urge you to comment on the planning application that Lambeth Council are trying to put through to blanket small and large events together. Lambeth are planning to fence off (again!) that huge area of the common that they have reseeded, for music festivals attracting up to 40,000 people. It will be closed off for the whole month of August. We all love small one day family events but we have to call a halt to the huge festivals that are so damaging to the ecology of the common and people’s quiet enjoyment thereof! This is our common, where we picnic and play with our children especially during the summer holidays.
