COVID VACCINE - why are Thurleigh Practice not putting any information on their website?

Postby dinosaur » Wed Mar 10, 2021 5:12 pm

Hello - just that really. Sitting patiently waiting here as a 50-something, for a call for my COVID vaccine while hearing all around me that other surgeries are calling in patients over 45.

What do I need to do? I'm getting the feeling I might need to be proactive. Anyone else feel like they are not in the loop?

If you’re 55 or over you can book now via the NHS site - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir ... ccination/

I’m with Thurleigh road and in the vulnerable category and had my jab 10 days ago- I got a text message from them when it was my turn to book in. They are not doing the jabs themselves- I was sent to the Clapham junction health centre just under Clapham junction station.

I am like you in the group 9 for the vaccine program and registered with Thurleigh Practice. I called them last week and they are significantly behind as they are still on group 6 ( vulnerable people). I don't quite understand why the progress is ont the same for all practices in the same borough, even area. Hopefully they will catch up.

I am aged 73 and eventually went elsewhere for my first Covid Jab as I discovered 60 year olds were being called in for theirs by other clinics. I was given a date for my second vaccination which will be in April, unlike my husband aged 79 who is still waiting for a date and is due his second in 3 weeks time. Calling Thurleigh Rd is useless, he was told 'the person dealing with vaccinations is away this week'.
My daughter, under 45, living in Tooting is receiving her first on Wednesday. Thurleigh Rd might like to consider they are not supporting their patients very well on this

Looks like Thurleigh Road Practise has now posted an update (wonder if these posts prompted it). Their progress is disappointing. Still working their way through Groups 1-6. Also states, if you are eligible, to go through the national programme link rather than waiting for a text from them.

In summary, don’t hold your breath in them contacting you if you are outside of Group 1-6.

This is really disappointing.

It's one thing talking the talk about mental health being important, but just think about the anxiety that is being created here waiting for a call from a GP practice who is meant to be serving its community, yet can't even use their website to update patients on the progress of their vaccination schedule  until 3 months after vaccinations have started.

I have friends in their 40s who have been vaccinated elsewhere within this area. Why are other practices more organised and serving their community better?

I’m 53 and with the practice and got my text on Friday. It might be because I am on two medications (not on the vulnerable list though).
I take it as a good sign. Also the nhs national booking is now on 55+ so it should soon go down to the 50+.
I jumped with joy when I got the text so totally understand everybody’s impatience. Good luck everyone

Over 50s can book online now https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir ... ccination/

I don’t know anything about Thurleigh Practice, but perhaps they have higher numbers of patients in the priority groups, or even higher take up than other local practices? I’m sure like everyone else they’re working their socks off. The make up of patient cohorts must affect progress through the age groups.

I wouldn't wait for your GP surgery unless there is a really specific reason you need to go there or are under 50. My husband was 50 today and booked his first jab for this Saturday on the national NHS site mentioned above. Easy.
