Drop off at Newton Prep from Clapham Old Town

Postby maze » Sun Jun 20, 2021 9:22 pm

Hello

With our child starting at NP in September we're trying to figure out how to do the drop off from Clapham Old Town.. does anyone know what it's like to drive? ..can you stop outside the school or do you have to park up nearby and walk the last bit? I'm guessing the traffic is pretty bad at that time so a cargo bike is an option but we've no-where very secure to keep it.

Many thanks

Hi

You could drive via North Street and then onto Silverthorne Road. Some parents / carers park on that road and walk the rest of the way. Or you could park on one of the side roads like St Philip St and walk.

You could also go on foot and have your child scoot. It’s definitely doable from Clapham Old Town via Silverthorne Road.

Not worth driving down Queenstown Road in the mornings. You could also get the 137 from Clapham Common. It’s not too bad via the bus lanes.

Welcome to Newton Prep. It’s a fantastic school. :)

We live in Clapham Old Town and I had children at NP for many years. I really wouldn't recommend driving as the traffic is terrible in the morning, it will take longer than walking and there is nowhere nearby to park. Much the best is to all get scooters and whizz down Silverthorne Road.
