Lindsay has been making frozen cookie dough for as long as she can remember and now wants to share this baking hack with her fellow Londoners. Did you know that frozen cookie dough will actually make a thicker, tastier cookie? That I did not, but I was very willing to test this theory out!
Lindsay very kindly gifted me three cookie dough flavours to try out - Chocolate Orange, Smarties Choc Chip and White Chocolate Birthday Cake. This sampling exercise couldn't have come at a better time as my family were attending an afternoon of fun and games on Tooting Common with a few other local families, so there was guaranteed to be an appreciative audience to test the frozen cookie dough theory!
The three cookie dough flavours arrived as individually packaged frozen balls of cookie dough yumminess. Simply pop the bags in the freezer and then take out as many dough balls as you require when you wish to bake the cookies. I couldn’t quite believe how simple it was; pre heat oven, take cookie dough balls out of the freezer, place on baking tray and bake! No baking mess whatsoever, just amazing fresh cookies straight out of the oven. Well, this was going to be embarrassingly easy to provide a fantastic treat for our friends to enjoy!
On producing the cookies at the gathering I was met with lots of “Wow, you’ve been busy baking, well done!” and “Excellent effort!” Probably could have claimed that I had spent the morning whipping up a baking storm in the kitchen, but I thought better of it! After explaining how simple the cookies are to produce, people rightly commented that they are a great item to have in your freezer as you can just pop some in the oven if unexpected guests turn up, or you simply don’t have the time to bake from scratch but still want something which is as good as a home baked product or better!
Let’s get onto the feedback on the actual goodies themselves: The Smarties Choc Chip cookies are perfect for children as just the size of a couple of bites, so they’re not getting a sugar over load. There are 20 in the bag, so perfect for a group picnic or a kids’ party.
The White Chocolate Birthday Cake cookies were my daughter’s favourite. It’s fair to say that she does have a sweet tooth and they definitely satisfied that with the white chocolate and sprinkles combination! We were very lucky to try these ones as they are yet to launch.
Now, the Chocolate Orange cookies were the star of the show for me, a real adults’ treat! I am very partial to a Terry’s Chocolate Orange and these are made with mini Terry’s Chocolate Orange pieces. They are very generous in size, so we shared the large cookies out amongst the adults. They are simply a complete cookie sensation! Thinking about their chocolate orange gooiness is making me feel very hungry!
