What does the contract say?
We always worked on the basis that a full time nanny got 20 days holiday. So our nanny who worked 4 days got 4/5 of 20 days ie 16 days holiday. Then for bank holidays - normally I think 8 in a year so 4/5 of paid bank holidays. (which increases/decreases holiday allowance depending on how they fall eg my nanny did Tues-Fri which usually increased holiday allowance due to many BH falling on a Monday).
This is also the same formula that my employer uses with me. It is in my nanny's contract and in my employment contract.
Our agreement is then that nanny chooses half the holiday, us the rest. Our nanny has always done well as we just take our holiday when we want which always means she gets more than she is entitled to and when she's wanted more on her allowance she's taken unpaid leave (also we've given her some extra occasionally).
