Hi Ferfi, sorry to hear you are suffering with menopausal symptoms, I totally understand how awful this can be!
I’m afraid I’m no longer in the area so unable to point you in right direction of an actual acupuncturist. However I just wanted to let you know that for me seeing one has really helped with Hot Flushes, Night sweats and mood.
mine is a slightly different case as my menopause is actually medically induced. After being diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2013 aged 38 and then Secondary Breast Cancer to the bone in Jan 2015. As my Cancer was hormone fed I started injections that completely shut down my ovaries, so within weeks I was pushed into a very fast menopause!
Hot Flushes had already started during my initial Cancer treatment with Chemo and Radiotherapy. Then became unbearable while taking Tamoxifen! I tried EVERYTHING! I mean pretty much everything. From taking Wibble remedies, wearing a magnet in my underwear, antidepressants and then finally acupuncture. Firstly I tried acupuncture that was given just on the ear, which failed for me, however worked well for others in the group!
I was ready to give up and at breaking point, wondering if a hysterectomy was going to be the answer, while also scared that maybe this was just going to be how things were for the rest of my life! Then the acupuncturist that I had received the ear treatment from, asked me to give her a try with full body acupuncture! I was sceptical but also desperate to try ANYTHING! So glad I did, within a few sessions I was starting to feel less anxious, I was sleeping better, my mood lifted and slowly but surely the hot flushes became less severe and less frequent!
I often wondered if the acupuncture was working or if my body had just settled down and got used to the lack of hormones!
Then came the answer to that. Covid hit and due to lockdown I was unable to see my acupuncturist for a few months. Within 2 months the flushes were back with a vengeance! I knew then that the acupuncture worked for me! I don’t know how? But it worked and that’s all that mattered!
So I see her once every 2/3 weeks and I continue to do well. My Cancer has remained Stable and although I have many issues Hot Flushes and Menopausal side effects are no longer at the top of that list making life unbearable!
Apologies for the very long reply, but I hope you find someone to help you! I really hope you have the same success, as living with menopausal symptoms is really hard work at times! Just don’t give up! I’m sure there is a solution for everyone, it just takes time to find the right one for you! Sending best wishes your way x
