I wanted to say a massive, public, thank you to Martin - the owner of Foxcroft and Ginger on Ritherdon Road - for his lifesaving help last week at a birthday party.

A guest had a life-threatening medical emergency and whilst we called for an ambulance five times none were available.

Martin actually drove us to hospital where, it's no exaggeration to say, the guest's life was saved.

Thank you, thank you, thank you Martin and if any of you would like to visit an incredible cafe and bar, where they might just save your life whilst serving you a gorgeous G&T, then I know just the place.

What a frightening situation but what an amazing outcome. It's true; not all superheroes wear capes. Well done Martin and thank you for helping another so selflessly.
