Candles that have a lasting scent

Postby new to nappies » Fri Aug 12, 2022 12:44 pm

Slightly off track question but can anyone recommend a brand of candle that has a lasting scent and deosn't cost the earth? I like to have one on the go in the kitchen /. bedroom but have noticed that my everyday ones don't seem to smell of very much and my favourite ones Jo Malone and Diptique are getting a bit expensive. Wondering if anyone has found a regular buy that has a good scent?

Neom candles are probably mid price range and leave a lassting aroma. Best candles to look for are soy wax with essential oils :) Or have you thought of an air ( water) diffuser and adding essential oils to it. Safer and in my opinion healthier. I have one from Neom and no I don’t work there :)

This brand is really good value and the scents I’ve tried have been lovely. I don’t even need to light it!! They always have an offer on too

Keep an eye on your ingredients- Most scented candles contain paraffin wax, which is derived from petroleum, coal or shale oil. While in small doses like scented candles, it's not toxic to humans - if you are like me then you would rather not have them in your home. So best to stick to Soy candles.

Buy local and from sustainable companies.
Home at Last on Garratt Lane has a great collection

I really like this brand as well - https://www.ecolivingsustainablehome.co.uk/.

I am not a big fan but wax melts seem to be more sustainable and longer lasting than candles.
The other option as a poster mentioned is Essential oils in a diffuser.
If you get a warming one, it lasts a lot longer and the smell will linger on because of the natural essential oils.
It's non toxic and completely natural. I can recommend these

Thanks for all of these lovely suggestions. Will start experimenting with some of them now. Also grateful for the heads up about paraffin v soy, wasn't even on my radar.

Those diffusers with sticks can be pretty good. I generally find that the more you pay the better they are! Oka do really nice ones and also I have a really good one from Fragonard (gingembre and vetiver) which you can buy online from M&S. I’m not sure how healthy they are but they smell good!

I once had the same issue until I stumbled upon Bellagracestore.com. Their candles have this amazing scent that fills the room, and they're not too expensive. Glad I managed to find that sweet spot between quality and affordability.
