Good brand of knives?

Postby ladygaga » Wed Aug 24, 2022 12:44 pm

Been trying to do more cooking recently but realise that my knife selection os pretty poor, Wondering if anyone could recommend a brand of knives to buy. Apologies for the slightly random question.

Sorry, random username - seem to lose mine on a daily basis!

We have Victorinox knives which have been going strong for nearly 17 years of marriage. A chef friend suggested them. Really pleased with them.

I was recommended the brand Global by a chef a while back and I'm very pleased with them.
Good knives are life-changing.
Even if you cant afford a full range, start with 2 or 3 different ones and build up.

And get them sharpened from time to time.
Good luck!

Sorry to add yet another option but I would highly recommend Wusthof’s Classic range.

Be careful with recommendations for just a brand without the range, as most brands have various levels - so someone may recommend a brand based on their top level or mid level range, but the entry level may be no good.

Savernake knives.

We have 2 and a carving set. Absolutely brilliant. They are made in England, all sorts of handle choices and personalisations possible. Quite pricey though. Would make a great special present.
