Basement damp repair company recommendation needed

Postby calgary » Mon Nov 28, 2011 10:48 am

Hey everyone,

We live in Balham and have got some damp patches that appeared during the summer in our basement that need sorting out. The biggest patch is in a corner near the floor and then we've one smaller palm-sized one in the middle of the wall

We'd like some recommendations from anyone who has personal experience with a company who has helped them out for this type of work.

Thanks so much!

These guys aren't local, but we had them recommended through a friend in the construction business down south: http://www.remcure.co.uk/

They did a fabulous job on our previous home in Pimlico, also provided proper advice regarding how much of the basement needed damp proofing. Be warned - proper damp proofing is tricky stuff and there are tons of people out there doing things that will only fix the problem short term. Doing a proper job is both very expensive and very messy, they had to peel everything back to the brickwork. However the quality of work was excellent, comes with a 10 year guarantee, and I know it was done to a good standard as I had people check up on the work afterwards.

Hi there, I work for a local building firm and I would recommend a company called Stonehouse. They are not local, but they do cover all SW London areas and are very good.

If you call ask for Angela.

I used http://www.eaglepreservationsuk.com/ earlier this year to damp proof a hearth before having a stove installed - they were really excellent and I would definitely call on them again if I needed any damp proofing work done. :D
