St Mary's RC Primary School, Crescent Lane

Postby DillyD » Sun May 06, 2012 12:40 pm

Does anyone have experience of St Mary's on Crescent Lane?

We're just within the parish & attend church regularly so have (hopefully) a good chance of our son getting a reception place next year however the OFSTED report is mixed. Any personal experiences would be really appreciated.

Not sure what you mean by mixed ofsted review but I have both my girls attending (nursery and year one) and I love the school, it is small enough for everyone to know each other, there is a strong sense of respect of the other, catholic values are very strongly supported. From an academic perspective the teachers are amazing, my older missed reception and she has received incredible support to catch up. And my nursery girl can already do much more than I would have expected. If you are alluding to the ethnic mixity of the school then of course being a catholic school it will reflects who attends mass but I personnally much prefer that for my children; and it does in no way prevents the school from being outstanding rated. Feel free to e-mail me if you want a further chat.

Thank you so much for the info. Now we just have to see if we'll be lucky enough to get a place in nursery & reception. Now the timings around when where & how are a different subject!

With regards to the ethnic mix of the school, that's what we as a family love about living in London. It was actually in reference to the opening few paragraphs within the report which I felt was rather negative. This however is then followed up with such strong praise. It's important to us our boys understand the community they live in along with the values we believe a catholic school will teach. Thanks again, really appreciated.
