Childrens hairdresser SW11?

Postby townieatheart » Mon Jun 25, 2012 11:51 am

Both my children are in desperate need of a haircut! My current hairdresser has moved out of London so I need someone new. The problem is my son's hair is really awkward to cut and our past experience with kids hairdressers has been pretty awful. Does anyone have anyone locally they would recommend? Not just salons but who exactly to use.
Thankyou

I use Antony Laban at Life hair on Lavender Hill. Pretty pricey at £20 but if your child is pretty good at sitting still then he does a very good child's cut. The kids hairdressers are £16-17 a go and after hearing bad reviews I'd rather pay an extra £3-4 and get it done properly.

I have heard Sally's is supposed to be very good.

On the other hand if anyone can advise me of a children's hairdresser who charges less than £10 then I would really appreciate it! Luckily only one of my twins has wild hair, the other one is yet to be cut.

A great kids' hairdresser who charges exactly £10 is in the salon on the corner of St John's Rd and Battersea Rise, opposite Jessops/Carphone Warehouse more or less. I always forget the name of the place even though I walk past it at least twice a day! They have a car for kids to sit in which is right by the window so hard to miss.

It's drop-in, no fuss and the woman who cuts the kids' hair there is incredibly patient, fun and lovely. My son rarely sits still for ten minutes but she manages to keep him happy AND do a really good job of cutting his hair at the same time. I've been there twice and both have been a great experience. If I remember the name, I'll post it later.

This sounds great! I know the one you mean. I just assumed they were all as expensive as each other. £15-20 for a child's haircut just seems ridiculous. It only lasts 10 minutes. I pay £30 for my haircut but at least it lasts an hour and I'm pampered for a bit!

Hi,

thanks for the tip. Do you remember the name of the lady who cut your child's hair? We went a few months ago and there was a man who wasn't that great with longer cuts...

Thank you,

S

Thanks for all your replies. I think I know the salon you're referring to and think it might be called Viva? Does anyone know if they're good at girls hair too?

Ooh, Viva or something similar might be it, don't know why I'm drawing a total blank on the name. I know the lady has told me her name too but I have drawn a blank on that too. She's young-ish, I'd say early 20s and she's Russian or Latvian or something like that. I can't vouch for how they do girls' hair there but I have seen girls sitting in the car beaming away when I've walked past.

please go to sally's on the northcote road - she is absolutely wonderful and so patient & kind to the kids. She also works incredibly hard and has been there for years. A real northcote road face! i can't recommend her enough x

I've taken my boys to Viva and they did a great job for £8. This is not the one with the child car in the front but very near the corner next to the opticians on Battersea Rise.

Oh I'm confused now mlm as I thought they were one and the same!

I sadly had a bad experience at Sally's, I know many people go there again and again but I found her quite impatient with my then 2yr old child and I had to go back the next day as the fringe was really wonky, she fixed it without trouble but still without a smile. Perhaps I should bite the bullet and try her again.

Just to add, I walked past the salon on St John's Rd last night and it's called Pro-Kut. It is described as a "men's hairdresser" on the outside though so I don't know how they do girls' hair but maybe worth a look.
