Nurseries in SW11

Postby Redlynch » Tue Aug 14, 2012 1:22 pm

Hello
I wonder if anyone can recommend a nursery for 8months+ in the clapham junction area? I have been exploring Kids Unlimited, La Petite Fleur and Lavendar Hill day nursery. Any experience of those that is worth me considering? Mouse House and Marmalade Cat seem to get fantastic ratings but I think these are for older children of 2+? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Northcote gardens is good. And, a bit further afield, bridge lane nursery.

Our son goes to Lavender Hill Day nursery and is very happy there. It is light inside and there's an outdoor space and the staff are caring. I looked at a few options and this was the best for us re location, opening hours, cost and environment.

I agree with Mich. Lavender Hill Day nursery is great. I thought a lot about them when my son was meant to start (he started at 5 months old, you will see my posts somewhere around) .After a few settling in sessions, he has been going in ever since. The baby room staff is fantastic . They genuinely love kids and Fathi, Salma and Marta are great at taking care of them .
Apart from the stuff like no fans (standard in every nursery) and maybe the occassional sleep disruptionand the buggy storage, things are fine .
They do water play on hot days , got out in the astro turfed garden . The meals are cooked inhouse as well. Alicia, the manager of the nursery , knows each kid by their name and what they are upto in the nursery which is a great sign.
Your baby may not sleep a lot but will definitely be well looked after.

My daughter's at St Peter's Children's Centre, and absolutely loves it. The ladies in the baby room (under 2s) are especially caring and warm - she settled with no dramas whatsoever. There is a very large garden, with patio areas for bikes/slides etc, grassy areas and a muddy 'bug' bit! They do loads of messy crafts and structured activities with the walkers and I believe the food is all cooked in house. I'm very happy with it.

Our son has just started at Northcote Gardens and they have been brilliant as he took a little while to settle in (the joy of seperation anxiety coincided with me going back to work!). It's a lovely nursery and they have made huge efforts with him to help him settle in and now he's really enjoying it.
They do have a big waiting list but we were very flexible on which days we needed and they came up trumps relatively quickly so it's always worth a go!

I registered my daughter at Northcote gardens when i was 20 weeks pregnant. She's 14 months old now and i still haven't been offered a place despite being happy to take anytime, any day. Annoyingly, i keep running into people who registered after me and have been given a place already. I think its just one of those nurseries where you need to know the owners.

I have heard through the grapevine that a new nursery is opening between the commons. Does anybody know anything??

"MuddyWellies" Childmining
“Muddy Wellies” childminding is the professional home-based care for children age 0-5. It is run by 2 Ofsted qualified childminders with 8 years of childcare experience and degree levels (Bsc, Msc Child Psychology, 2:1). We are Ofsted registered, CRB-checked and have Ofsted Pediatric First Aid.In “ Muddy Wellies” childminding it is always lots of fun to take on board! All of our activities are carefully selected in line with the EYFS framework to ensure child’s optimal development. Our daily activities are also well balanced. Your child will have the comfort of daily routines (nap time, story time, meal time, music-relax time) together with more exiting activities like; outings to parks and farms, music clubs and age-appropriate home-based creative activities (music time, playdough, arts&crafts, role playing, mini-theatre just to mention few). In our care we take into consideration three main aspects of supporting child's optimal development and which include: unique child approach, enabling environments and building positive relationships. Apart from being the great play-mates (and the passion for being silly ) we also perceive childminding as a serious and responsible occupation and strive for continuous learning and deepening our expertise. The balance between the years of practical experience and theoretical knowledge helped us to develop the expertise in supporting children with their unique talents and reaching developmental milestones. On top of these we consider ourselves to be bubbly and imaginative people who love to work together. The “Muddy Wellies” childcare is based in Magda’s home which is colourful and safe environment to blossom in, have fun and to relax. It is based on Bollingbroke Grove (SW11) with 1’oclock centre and library just few minutes away and the Wandsworth Common just (literally!) across the road. If you are living locally (Clapham, Wandsworth) and looking for warm and friendly and affordable childcare then do not hesitate to contact us.

Hi There! My 12months daugther has been going to Les Petits Heaven for a month now, it's a Montessori Bilingual Nursery and she loves it! It opened just a few months ago so still places available. The manager and the girls working there are really nice! Would definitely recommand it.

I recently went for a showround at Lavender Hill Day Nursery and under no circumstances would leave my child there. I witnessed a child asleep in a room by them selves while everyone else had gone to ASDA

Hi Acreed, am surprised. Am a mum there and my son has been going there for almost 9 months.
Would be worried if that was the case. I have only ever seen kids with their carers, singing, playing dress up and listening to stories in the babyroom.
