Live-in nanny to work 7am-5pm, Monday to Wednesday

Postby twigley » Wed Sep 05, 2012 9:41 am

We are looking for a three day (Monday-Wednesday) live-in nanny to start ASAP. The role is permanent and sole charge and the hours are 7am-5pm. We live in Clapham right next to the common. Three children, boy/girl twins of 4 years who attend morning nursery and a boy of 8 months. Two nights babysitting per week would also be included, one being on either a Friday or Saturday night. We have a Labrador-sized dog so you must be comfortable with dogs and happy to walk it for twenty minutes each day. You must be able to drive our manual car and have a clean licence. English mother tongue or fluent English. Twin experience desirable although not essential. Would like the candidate to enjoy cooking, arts and crafts, reading and be energetic. Salary £200 per week for the three days to include suppers provided for the two nights babysitting and lunches with the kids. You would have your own self-contained flat (with kitchen and bathroom) at the top of the house. If you are suitable and able to start straight away please get in touch on 07985 482 650 or email me at tara.wigley@googlemail.com

You advertised this role slightly differently on an earlier post.

This is an advert that has been discussed widely among nannies.

Its very unusual for a live in nanny to not have their food provided

Aside from that, giving them a shorter week for lower wages - hence giving them 4 days where they can find another position, yet putting on babysitting is very restrictive.

Also this kind of role is likely to be considered by an inexperienced nanny (who's unaware of the un-usual-ness over things like food) & therefore they are likely to be more of a mothers help / au pair candidate who'd want to explore & travel during their 'time off' - they can't do that with babysitting tied in & can't just take some food from what is supposed to be considered 'home' to travel on a budget.... as the advert demonstrates being quite picky over when they can & can't have food.

Nannies who are given an annex / sep accommodation, have their food bought for them from their employer (normally for the whole week), / added to the shopping list. This is from nannies who've had seperate accommodation / their own kitchen etc .

I really think you should keep your opinions to yourself. £200pw for a 3 day a week job with no extra accomadation expenses is great. There's time the rest of the week to get more work.

It's up to people whether they want to apply or not, not for you to be trying to put people off.
