Groups for toddlers during the week - Balham

Postby womblemama » Mon Nov 12, 2012 8:48 am

Hi
I've just started maternity leave for baby no2 and have a 2.5 yr old who will be with me tuesdays, wednesdays and fridays. It's been so long since I've been off work I'm not up on what's on for toddlers these days on these days- ideally in Balham or close by. Ideally looking for activities I can do with my toddler and take the new baby along to. I'd be really grateful for any suggestions. I hoped we could do messy matters at the library on Tuesdays but not sure that's on any more. We go to fruity tunes on Fridays. Any other suggestions very welcome.
thanks v much!

What's fruity tunes on Fridays?

I will start my maternity leave in January (with number 3!) and like you, I am a bit out of touch - it seems that much less stay and play schemes are available this time around.

Will be looking after my new baby full time with a 2.5 little girl in tow most afternoons.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!

There is soft play at tooting leisure centre mon-thurs at either 930 or 1030 and if you arrive early you could always play in the ball pit? Costs about £3.80 and you can park there too!

How about Monkey Music and stay and play? Bertrum House School has just sarted a session at 2pm on Fridays - 30 mins of Monkey Music and then 30 mins playing in the nursery department. It's £5 and you can drop in or book a session with their office.

Toutazimuth - sorry I haven't replied until now - fruity tunes is a baby / toddler music group in Clapham South. There are no termly fees, you just buy a book of tickets and use when you want.
Back to work mum - thanks for the bertrum house tip - sounds perfect for us, especially if it's only £5!
Thanks again for all the replies

Bertie and Boo Adventure Island has 'magical story time' on Mon, Thurs and Fri mornings 09:30 and 10:30 I think (better check the website).

It is £3.90 and includes entry to the soft play area. The story time is a nice mix of magic, songs and actions. I go with my 2 year old and 6 month old and they both love it. After the 10:30 story time they put baby toys out in the 'theatre'.

Hi, I have worked as a nanny in Clapham/Balham area for 5 years.
I use to go to playgroup on Weir road in Balham.Very nice place for kids and mums too.£2 per child +extra £1.50 for sibling
Coffee, tea, singing time. Can highly recommend this one
Monday from 3-5pm
Tuesday morning from 10am
Wednesday for babies up to 1 year from 10 I think

Also Thursdays big play group on Malwood road in Clapham South, close to St Francis Xavier college. They run 2 sessions. From 9.15-10.30, 10.45-12am

Bertie&Boo is ok too. They run sessions every hour and they have little soft play area for babies
Hope its gonna help

Veronika
