Saturday Activities for Dads and Babies

Postby Hattie » Fri Nov 23, 2012 8:01 am

Hi Ladies

As I primarily work with newborns, I was at a loss recently when a mum of mine asked for inspirational ideas for her hubby to do to when he takes over for a while with their 9 month old baby on a Saturday? Getting a bit bored of the swings, :o already does swimming, goes to Monkey Music and Buggy fit during the week - any ideas?

Most of the children's centre's do a dad's Saturday at least once a month. Some of them even throw in breakfast. You don't say where they are based but I know Hilbrook, faylands and the Maytree all do something once a month.
Otherwise, gymboree classes are pretty good for that age group as they start getting more mobile and maybe in a few months if he gets a Sunday too he would be interested in the tingalingo french classes at Sammy Duder.

Thanks Contractor Mum.
The mum in particular is based in Putney/Wandsworth border, but it's useful info for any of my mums in the NVN area. If any mums out there have first hand experience of nice places too, please jump on this thread and I'll make a list! :D

OK Clapset.
Are you a dad to be or mum to be asking for the dad?
I only asked the mums as they tend to have an enclopaedic list of ideas!
But let's hear it from all the daddies out there too. X

I'm a dad to be... asking the mums may give you a thought on what the mums want the dads to do ... and I doubt it includes going to the pub, watching sport, running / cycling, or having a kip?! All of which I want to do at the same time!

 Clapset! Surely my husband feels the same lol!

Hubby takes both of them to the little gym on Sat morning (it was his idea not mine!). They start quite young, i think 6 months (but not sure for the saturday class). It is really good for both their relationship and the physical development of the kids.

But at this age, my husband was only taking them to the park talking about trees and other stuffs, then to the playgroung and then for a coffee (for him obviously). I mean that child is already doing a lot of groups, a nice one to one with dad is sufficient in my opinion.

Sx

It won't matter anyway - my boy will have a paper round soon that will keep him busy.

The Manor Arms in Streatham does some sort of kids activities on Saturday from 10am. A good excuse to go to the pub if one was ever needed ;)

I was doing a Pilates class at It's a Kids Thing in Earlsfield (A softplay centre) and my husband was really happy to eat a fry up and play with my son there. It seemed to be a good balance between something my husband wanted to do, something my son loved to do and something that I wanted to do.

When she said let's have a child I never thought that I'd have to do stuff ...

Where does the bookmaker's sit in the list of priorities ... ? Can we get Saturday's bets on before pilates?
