Toddler Course?

Postby Balham3838 » Mon Jan 14, 2013 9:47 am

Hi

Does anyone know if there are any local classes/ courses on Toddlers?

I am realising that my once compliant and placid baby is slowly turning into a 12 month old toddler with a mind of her own and wanted to do some kind of a one day or short class on raising a toddler.

My Google search and NCT website search didn't come up with anything!

Thanks

Hi - I've just sent the instructor for this course in Southfields an email (Kirsty?) I'm really interested in doing something like this too. I've got a toddler just about to turn two who is a handful and I'm really struggling to come up with a gentle discipline style that works. Looking forward to your feedback!

Hi
Have you looked at the Parent Practice?

http://www.theparentpractice.com/

They run a 5 week or 10 week course at Thurleigh Rd and other locations in SW London and you can also book 1-to-1 sessions. I went to a free taster class and thought it was brilliant. It's not just for toddlers but it gave me some food for thought for the future as well.

Hi Balham 3838
I went on the Toddlercalm tantrum workshop on Saturday morning.
It was interesting and informative - there was some background on toddler psychology etc And it made me stop and think about the pros/cons of some of the discipline strategies commonly used for toddlers such as naughty steps/time out/sticker charts etc. Probably quite good if your child is only just approaching the age you might use things like that. However there were definitely no magic answers. Much of what was imparted was stuff I had read/heard before/common sense. (and I have read very few parenting books). I think the approaches we have to bringing up our children can vary enormously - this course is definitely more suited to those who use "attachment parenting" style. hope that helps?
