Need reliable kitchen & bathroom fitter & painter

Postby Allsmiles » Sat Mar 09, 2013 8:05 pm

Hi, am looking to refurbish my flat in Clapham South. I would like the kitchen, bathroom and toilet tiled, fitted new (we can either suppy material or take materials plus labour from the fitters) and the whole 2 bed flat walls stripped, plastered and repainted. Any recommendations on a reliable company? Or equally, who to avoid?

Many thanks

Hi Allsmiles

I can recommend Clapham Builders who completed the refurbishment of our house (inc, bathrooms, kitchen, plastering, decoration, etc) to a great standard. They are also nice, conscientious guys and kept the place as tidy as possible while carrying out the works.

I found them on here too after several others recommended them. Their boss is called Richard on 07852 991867.

I can recommend Thorogood Building - they did a whole refurbishment for me and were excellent, great quality work and so easy to work with. Call David Thorogood on 07837 735847 or email dthorogood@msn.com. They have a website so you can see their work - http://thorogoodbuilding.com/ thanks. :)

Dixabelle and Roxieum

I notice that both of you recommend the same people a lot.

Can you please clarify if you are linked to the people you recommend?

Not that it matters, it's just great to understand what is motivating you post so repetitively about the same firm.

Please don't take this wrong way :D

I would recommend Rufus Landricombe http://www.london-bathrooms.co.uk/ - 07980813880. He fitted our kitchen but he specialises in bathrooms. We have known him for a number of years (his wife went to University with my husband) and he is one of the loveliest guys I know. His work is very good (especially his tiling which is second to none).

If you need an all-round painter, decorator and builder then contact Maurice Hope www.wepaintanyhouse.com (just posted about him this morning) 07534141000. He painted the exterior and interior of our property and is again a lovely chap.

Hope this helps.

I recommend tony a lot, because he has done so many jobs for me, one time my electric tripped out late at night, and although he couldn't come up that evening, 10.40 he did talk me through how to get my electric back on, and in the process we discovered that it was the heater element in my water tank, that was causing the problem, switching it off enabled me to have all of my lights and sockets working again, amazing, and all for free. The next day he came and changed the faulty part, ( not for free lol ) anyone can phone him, even if its for some free advice.
I post up his number a lot because I read so many post about people being ripped off, or not happy with the work that has been done for them.

Thanks for your concern :)

I would be rather concerned if people were posting the same info about the same person?? Obviously it must be their partner or family member?? I think you should go for recommendations of your close reliable friends! Have to be careful!! :)

David at Thorogood Building did a really big renovation project for me and so got to know him and his team well, I wanted to help them out by giving them recommendations on here as I was so pleased with the work they did, and I also know another friend who also used them, and also loved their work. Just offering a recommendation when people ask - nothing more! :-)
