Help! NappyValleyNet want's your opinion on the new Whats On

Postby Annabel (admin) » Fri Mar 15, 2013 10:02 am

Hi Everyone
A few months ago we launched a new "whats on calendar".

It's here...

http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/whats-on/

We want to know what you think of it and also which of the options you like best.

There are three "views"...

1) Agenda

http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/whats-on/

2) Stream

http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/whats-on/action:stream/

3) Posterboard

http://www.nappyvalleynet.com/whats-on/ ... sterboard/

Can you please click one of the options in the poll and tell us which you prefer?

Also if you could reply to this post with any other comments you might have about our What's On Guide?

E.g. do you use the categories and tags do filter the events? do you ever change the events view yourself i.e. change it from posterboard to agenda etc?

Thanks guys, this will help us make the site better!

Number 1 Definitely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The other two hurt my eyes and give me a headache to look at. Atleast with Agenda you can see everything is uniform in text which means you can scan it very easily for what might grab your eye and then you can expand to view the icons, details logo's etc - this is by far the best! In my opinion anyway!

As my kids are now school age, I would love to selfishly see a filter by age group. Even just two categories, under 5 and over 5 would probably be a great help to see which events may apply to us. There are so many events which is great but I usually give up scanning through them as there are too many. Thanks!

I also like the agenda format. But is it possible to perhaps include 1-2 lines of preview of what the event is about? It will be an intermediary step, but it would be useful before deciding if you do indeed want to click on the link.

Agree with the age filtering idea - it's just too overwhelming to look at with so much on. It seems mostly to be regular classes - could they be separated out from the events eg Easter egg hunts etc?

Hello Annabel - love the new "What's On" and agree age filtering is a very good idea. Would also be interested in postings on any events that are a little more of a outing/day trip e.g. reasonable drive outside London (Legoland, Peppa Pig World etc) or anything more central like museum spaces. I realise this is a big ask but as I consult NVN on pretty much everything else would be great to have it all in one place. :D

Also, it might just be my internet connection but from both laptop and iPad the page does take quite a long time to load and often times out.

I much prefer option 2, I find it easier to read and find what I want. The agenda option is too dull and samey for my liking. The posterboard is a little TOO busy.

I love the online calendar idea, really helpful, particularly for school holidays!!
