MMR

Postby yummymummy2011 » Fri Apr 19, 2013 1:40 pm

My LO had his first MMR at 13 months (he is now 16 months) as part of the routine schedule of jabs. I understand that he is due to have the second one sometime before he starts school.

As the measles epidemic in Wales has now spread to England and the media are carrying stories today saying that the outbreak could spread to London, should I look into him having the booster now?

Are there any doctor mummies who could advise please? Does the first jab provide enough protection for him?

Any wisdom very gratefully received!

I'm not a doctor but I would have thought your GP surgery would give good advice on this. One thing's for sure and that is that immunisation is really important. I had measles myself as a child (in pre-immunisation days) and it is AWFUL and went on for a very long time.
