Postnatal doula available

Postby Naomidowen » Mon Apr 22, 2013 11:53 pm

My name is Naomi Owen and I am a postnatal doula in Twickenham.

My role as a postnatal doula is completely dependent on your family's needs and together we will discuss what works best for you. I can do some light housework, groceries, cook a meal or help with the other children, but most importantly, I am there to help and empower the new mum.  I can offer you emotional support whether you need an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on or just some company. Rest is also very important and I will very happily look after your baby whilst you take a well-deserved nap or a bath. I can also help you with breast or bottle feeding and provide information on local support groups and activities.

As your postnatal doula, I am happy to provide:

- emotional support, listening and disussing issues about your birth or early parenting
- feeding support
- baby-care, including bathing, winding, nappy changing etc
- taking care of your baby whilst you shower, rest, eat etc
- coming with you to baby clinics, doctor's appointments, breast-feeding drop-in clinics etc
- help with looking after older children
- general tidying & light housework
- cooking & baking with older siblings
- helping with shopping and light errands

As a mentored postnatal doula I charge £10 per hour.

Related skills and qualifications:
I am also an Antenatal teacher for the NCT and a licenced PBB (Preparation for Pregnancy, Birth & Beyond) practitioner, as well as being CRB checked.

I had a postnatal doula and I can fully recommend you having one! It saved my life in the first three months of having my twin boys. I don't know Naomi but I know the emotional as well as general help i had kept me sane, especially if you had a difficult birth.
