Nursery in SW11

Postby carrotcake » Tue May 28, 2013 8:53 am

As some of you will know, we at www.CarrotCakeNursery.co.uk have been sharing our space with another local nursery since January as they were flooded out.

As our numbers are increasing, they have now moved out. This leaves us with some additional available spaces.

We also did some improvement work in the nursery over the bank holiday weekend, so if you have visited before it is well worth visiting again.

No windows, fairly disorganised and food hygiene rating 3. Wouldn't recommend at all.

Thanks for your feedback Eve, but I would like to make the following observations:

Your first observation is inaccurate. We have five large rooms, and we have large windows in all but one of those rooms.

We do have a food hygiene rating of 3, but considering we had only just opened at the time of inspection this was a good outcome. This was a point made to us by our inspector. We are more than happy to have anyone come and look at our kitchens. We are confident that our rating will be higher at our next inspection.

If you go on to the Food Standards Agency website, and search for childcare in SW11, you can see the ratings for all nurseries in the area. Their ratings range between 3 and 5. Interesting to note that some popular and well established nurseries have a rating of 3.

We have been hosting another nursery as I mentioned in my last post which meant it has been difficult to organize as we wish. This arrangement was initially meant to last 6 - 10 weeks, but we supported them through their difficult time for 22 weeks. Now we are on our own, we have carried out improvements to the nursery, and visitors will see a highly organised nursery, which our parents are clearly very happy with.

Do come and see. Many nurseries only show people around at certain times or by appointment, but our manager or deputy manager are pleased to show anyone around at any time.

I do think that you should upload more attractive photos. I am looking for a nursery for my son and dont have time to visit all nurseries and do go to nurseries that look attractive and fun online first.
Also, the hall looks very plain and boring.

That is useful feedback. The photos were taken when we had just opened and had a handful of children. Will do new photos early this week. Thank you.
