Glasses for a 2 year old

Postby Sabz » Fri Jul 12, 2013 8:36 pm

Hi

I have just found out from the ophthalmologist that my 2.5 year old daughter has astigmatism and needs to wear glasses.

I have no idea where would be the best place to go for little ones. What type of glasses are best suited for toddlers? Are Specsavers/Boots any good?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

I would strongly recommend Bellmores on Northcote Road (green exterior, corner with Kelmscott Rd I think). They are very thorough, have a good range of glasses and really know their stuff. I went there for glasses as a child and am still with them 26 years on!

I have two kids in glasses, one since 2 and a quarter and one since eighteen months and I find that Karen Lockyer is better than Bellmores. Big box of toys to play with, lots of frames to choose from and no need for spare pairs as (unlike bellmore's) they can order lenses in without sending off the frames which is v helpful as their prescription changes every 6 months or so and they grow out of frames so spare pairs become very pricey.
