Any Honeywell Mums?-Boring name label question!

Postby lamj1974 » Sun Jul 28, 2013 9:44 pm

Hi

I was wondering whether you could help me. I've got 2 kids starting at Honeywell in September & just thinking about name tags. I'm not sure I can face sewing labels on every item of clothing & as there is no school uniform I don't know where to draw the line! So I was just wondering of anybody could pass on any suggestions of what you've done in the past.

Thank you so much.

Lucy

My advice is to send them in naked. It's a lot easier.
In the winter, just put a pair of socks on them.

I took mine to the dry cleaner on nightingale lane and they did it for me there. The £30 I paid was well worth it instead of hours of sewing!

Maybe.....x

On a serious note, I DID spend hours sewing name tags on for B and then he went and grew out of the clothes so quickly (!) it's impossible to keep up!

My advice is to buy most school clothes at Asda etc and just label coats, jackets and jumpers (the things they take off)

'Sooz' summing up perfectly what the Honeywell parent has become

'My advice is to buy most school clothes at Asda etc and just label coats, jackets and jumpers (the things they take off)'

For the record, many many people around the country don't have the view that clothes from Asda are dispensable.....

'Dogymho', for the record, I see Asda clothes as great value for great quality.

I think most school Mums (Honeywell or not) would agree with me.

I have had a child at Honeywell school for two years and used iron on labels for all tshirts and trousers - (marker pen on labels inside coats) However for my next child I will probably just label outer clothing (jumpers, hats. Hoodies etc) as things like trousers and t shirts are not changed at school except for gymnastics/PE - and they put them straight on again afterwards so don't get lost!
Iron on labels have improved over the years, despite many washes, they still stay on, but are easy to remove if you sending stuff to the charity shop!
Good luck.

Pretty sure Sooz didn't mean her children have a wear once and throw policy for their asda clothes and not sure why someone would join a forum just to say something snippy.

Not a honeywell parent but I am labelling the outerwear and sports wear with iron on and a quick marker pen initials on the other bits.

Have fun!

Hello
I bought a stamp from here stamptastic.co.uk to use to label some of daughter's clothes which has been good.

I have not say it's not a perfect solution as the ink does fad and it doesn't come out clearly on all materials but I found it much easier that sewing or ironing on labels.

I have 2 in the infants at HW and to be honest given the no uniform policy rarely label anything! Most coats have a built in name label and similarly you can scribble initials on the labels of PE kit items.

There are multiple lost property bins and most items turn up with a bit of a rummage... I get my son to do it to encourage personal responsibility!

Buy cheap and cheerful and gloves on strings! :-)

Based on the recommendation above I have Just purchased a 'stamptastic' stamp and they are good!

Just in case anyone else was thinking of it, I thought I'd post the 10% Off code I'd found... PPS13 valid til 8th August.
