Depending on what area of Streatham you live in, will probably determine which school you will get into. However there are good state primary schools in most parts of Streatham. If you are in Streatham Hill, Telferscot Primary has become a two form entry school in the last couple of years so the catchment has widened. Children from the Telford Park area and the Alphabet Streets are now being included. I know only positives talked about regarding this school.
Henry Cavendish, Streatham which is off Drewstead Road also caters for the same catchment as Telferscot as well as the Mount Ephiram and Abbotswood Road, Becmead Road areas. This has only been running for a few years and its oldest year is now year 3 children from September 13. It works with Henry Cavendish in Balham a hugely rated school. Initially people were put off by its location and unfinished appearance. But parents also seem happy. Hitherfield and Streatham Wells are spoken of well. Sunnyhill Primary in Sunnyhill Road is having lots of money spent on it and is on the up apparently. St Stephen and Emanuel and also St Leonards are both linked to churches so some church attendance as well as footsteps to the door MIGHT determine entry (not entirely sure of this so check with the school). St Leonards is also highly rated. Finally St Julians Primary in Leigham Court Road has long been raved about, they have now increased the intake and built a new school in West Norwood.
Like any school it is a question of personal choice and of course if it will suit your child. Don't listen to the gossip go and see the schools for yourself. Many peoples opinions are formed on hearsay. Hope this helps.
