Brick cleaning/repointing - recommendations needed Post Reply

Hi there

We own a terraced red brick house between the commons. The facade (which is unpainted) could do with a bit of TLC. Does any one have a recommendation for someone who could help with this? I would also be grateful for guidance on rough cost.

We used Kieran Forkin of Brickclean earlier in the year to remove pebbledash, replace bricks and completely repoint our late Victorian red-brick double-fronted house - a three week job. We were so happy that right now he is in the middle of doing the same to the back of our house.

His quote was substantially less than the other quote that we received for the same work.

He is usually running more than one job at once and moving guys around between jobs. We did find this a bit annoying but what it did mean is that we got the right people for the right work, i.e. the best guy at pointing does the pointing on all of the jobs. There was at least one person working on the job everyday - sometimes as many as four - and he did get the work done in the timeframe. After the work had been done (and we had paid) we had issues with some of the pointing on the arch of the door and he had someone come back and redo it until we were happy. The guys he has working for him are really pleasant and 15 month old has got really attached to them.

Hi DLV2011

We had the rear brickwork of our house re pointed and the rather tired lintels beneath several windows and some dodgy bricks sorted by Clapham Builders who did a proper job with their team old school, proper London brickies.

It took a bit longer than expected but they stuck to their quotation and took a genuine pride in their work.

Can't remember the cost exactly but I guess it must vary on the work involved but give Richard,the owner, a call on 07852 991867 for a price.
