Picture framers Clapham Old Town

Postby natalia508 » Thu Sep 26, 2013 1:14 am

Has anyone had any experience using framers in Clapham Common/Old Town? There are two very near me - Clapham Picture Framers on Venn St and The Pond Gallery on The Pavement, and a few others in the vicinity. I have a bunch of paintings and drawings that I want to frame in simple but quality gallery style (contemporary white box frames and mounts with non-reflective glass) but I want to take some advice on style and sizing, mounting etc. and don't want to somewhere very expensive. But I'm not sure which framers to go with.
Any experiences/comments/recommendations much appreciated!
Thank you x

Hi, I'd highly recommend Clapham Picture Framers who I've used numerous times over the last couple of years and have always been extremely pleased with the finished articles! The guys there are really friendly and helpful and I find them reasonably priced considering the degree of customisation they provide (I've had things including artwork, my kid's first shoes and even a mirror framed by them).

Thanks frazzled mama!
I actually went in there this morning, lugging all my artwork along. As you say the guy in there was super helpful. Unfortunately I want a gallery style frame, and the frame they offered had to be hand painted as its difficult to find a decent quality white manufactured frame - and this was going to cost me around £170 for one painting, and I have about 10 pictures in all I want to frame like this. Not that I think this price is unreasonable, just a question of affordability, so sadly I'm going to have to go the online route, which is a shame. The guy gave me some good tips and made me a folder for my painting which we'd taken out of the original old frame to look at, at no cost and no gain for himself/the shop.
I will definitely use them for anything more bespoke or special in the future, but not for this particular project.
Thanks again.

I have used http://www.framefromhome.co.uk/ in the past. They come to your house with samples of all their mounts and frames. You don't have to lug your artwork around and you can get an idea of how it will look in situ. After framing, they deliver it back to your house.

Hello,

We used Pond Gallery and were very happy with them. I went to several framers from Battersea Rise to the ones in Clapham Old Town before deciding on Pond Gallery. They were very professional, did a fantastic job and were the least expensive of all the other 4 framers from whom I received quotes.
