Looking for feedback on Jacksons estate agents

Postby KEMS » Wed Jun 16, 2010 12:47 pm

Hi,

Am considering selling my flat using Jacksons estate agents on Lavender Hill.

Has anyone got any experience of selling through them? Any feedback on how accurate their valuations are / how efficient they are / how many viewings they achieved and their negotiation skills would be much appreciated!

Hello

I haven't heard great things about Jacksons and as a result didn't use them when we were renting out our flat. My friend put her flat on with them, they gave them an inflated valuation and the contract was very long so she couldn't get out of it for ages.

I have heard from other people as well that they give unrealistic valuations to secure the property and then they don't come through with many viewings.

Hi there,

We sold our flat through Jacksons (on Balham High Road) last year and I would not recommend them.

Like Moops has said, they over-inflated the valuation, as did all the other estate agents we asked, but the reason we went with them is because they were independent and assured us we could achieve that price, showing us other properties they'd recently sold similar to ours.

Things started off really slow - maybe four or five viewings per week for the first few of weeks and no second viewings. After asking for feedback they kept saying it was because the price was too high and they recommended we dropped it. When we finally did, the viewings increased but we still had second viewings / offers. It was only when we threatened to give them notice that second viewings suddenly started and offers came in.

When we accepted an offer they became really pushy to a point where it felt as though they were acting for the buyers rather than us.

I was left feeling cheated really, not sure what else to say. I'm sure there are positive experiences with Jacksons out there but I thought I'd give my feedback.

Good luck with your move!

If you are looking for an agent, we used James Pendleton (clapham common) last year and they were faultless - polite, efficent, professional and were realistic on their vaulation. I would use them everytime. Ask for Victoria. Interestly though Jackons on Lavender Hill were our second choice - but judging by the above may be I am a poor judge

Hi, thought I'd update you all on our Jacksons experience.

We did end up going with Jacksons on Lavender Hill to sell our flat and I can't fault them. Although their initial valuation was very high, so was everyone else's and I think the market was just a bit unpredictable.

Natasha and Beth made a great team who you could always get in contact with. Most importantly, they sold our flat and we now have a beautiful house.

Good luck everyone selling or buying, it is a stressful process!

Am planning to put my house on the market very soon and need to get some agents round to value it. Can anyone suggest a good agent? Also, what can I expect to pay. I am selling a 4 bed end terrace in Northside. Any suggestions/experiences of local agents would be so welcome.

Lavenderlady - As an estate agent myself (in Wimbledon Village, although I live between the commons) I have always rated Rampton Baseley. Patrick & Joel are both local boys and if I were to set up my own agency I would definitely model it on how they have done theirs.
