York Gardens

Postby harrysfather » Wed Jul 07, 2010 5:31 pm

Does anyone use this facility for their children? It has a great playgorund, which is being redeveloped, but lies in an unattractive location. It's not open on Saturdays either - why is that?

I recently discovered that you can pick cherries from the trees there, and they taste really good. A nice way of showing urban children where real fruit comes from!

Hi,
Thanks for this post. It's a bit of a walk from us but definitely worth knowing about! I'll try it the next time we're feeling adventurous.
Have you tried Bramford Gardens? Just behind Wandsworth Town rail station, next to the big roundabout. Good swings for toddlers and the added bonus (for them!) of trains going past overhead every so often. We live nearby and it's grown on me!

Thanks for this, wigglewiggle

I presume you'd be walking up from near Wandsworth Bridge? In that case, the walk along the river is part of the attraction! Esp. now that you don't have to walk all around Battersea Reach.

I know and occasionally use Bramford Gardens - but didn't know what it is called!

Hi

Re opening times, this is what it says on the Wandsworth Gov website for York Gardens:

Term time: Monday to Wednesday from 3.30 to 7pm; Saturday & Sunday from 11am to 6pm

School holidays: Monday to Thursday and Sunday from 11am to 6pm

So it looks like it is open Saturdays but not during the holidays!

Are you aware the Council plans to close this library (and no others - even though York Gardens is in the poorest ward in the borough) to save money?
