Looking for dance/ drama for bashful 10 year old boy

Postby Editrix » Wed Jan 22, 2014 10:52 am

My son would like a go at drama, performing. dance groups but he feels it's all a bit girly or young ---- the drama classes at schools are dominated by girls......

Any suggestions ? We live off wandsworth common northcote road side but willing to travel.
Thank you

I have the perfect solution for you! I manage the youth theatres at The Devas Club which is situated on Stormont Road, Clapham Common North.

We meet on Mondays at 4.00pm - 5.30pm for musical theatre and on Wednesdays from 5.00pm - 6.30pm for drama. Each session costs only £1.00. I would recommend the Wednesday session as this is led by a guy and is certainly not "girly" in any way. This term we are putting on a production of 'The Wind in the Willows'.

The Monday session is slightly more girly - just because it is run by girls and there is only one boy in the group this term. However, he would of course be more than welcome to try out both.

Please contact me on lauren@bigfoot-theatre.co.uk or 0207 9525553 for more details.

I have two perfect solutions for you!

Either Boys Only Ballet with Fancy Footwork, or if that feels a bit girly for him, he should try Moves Like Jagger, also with Fancy Footwork. MLJ is perfect for some really energetic dance which will also help instil confidence for the school disco too!

I can recommend the drama at the Devas Club mentioned above. My girls go to the musical theatre on Monday and my friend's daughter goes to the drama on Wednesday. It's a very friendly group - teachers and children. It's a drop in session as well so no need to sign up and pay expensive termly fees.
