Weekend exercise classes

Postby SJ1979 » Fri Aug 13, 2010 9:58 pm

Does anybody know of any good weekend exercise classes around Clapham Common / Northcote Rd / Lavender Hill area? I'm a working mother and my husband has a very demanding job which means weekday evenings for exercise classes are out of the question for me as he's often not back till very late, meaning I can't get out. I'd love to do aerobics or yoga, and until I went back to work I loved Buggy Fit, but the classes now don't fit with my work days.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks!

I recently started doing something called 'Heartcore' ( heartcore.co.uk)
The only way I can describe it is Pilates crossed with torture but it is strangely addictive, I think due to the fact that you see results pretty darned quickly. The day after your first session, you really know about it. Its is done on these weird machines with sliding platforms, you can see it all on the website. Good thing is your 1st session is free, after that, its not exactly cheap, although the more you book the cheaper it gets. The nearest one to our neck of the woods is Kings Road, easy if you're near the 319. I've done 9 classes so far and my arms are starting to look like I'd given up on them ever looking and my stomach muscles don't know whats hit them!

I too used to love buggyfit and really missed it when I went back to work. I have recently started British Military Fitness on the common, which is actually a very similar idea (though no babies and a bit harder- but not a lot if you put yourself in the lowest class!). There are classes on Saturday and Sunday (as well as weekday evenings). If you go onto their website you can sign up for a free trial class to see what you think.

Have a look at Training in the Park, these sessions are great and people/trainers are very friendly.

The MuTu Masterclass is a one-off workshop session held at Physio For All on Webbs Road (just off Northcote Road) once a month on a Sunday morning. It might just be all you need...!
