Now some may find this mad but without local family we find ourselves making a spontaneous weekend wedding anniversary trip to Epernay in the champagne region with our walking talking bottle smashing 1 year old. We are staying just out of Epernay and plan to stick with the smaller houses, perhaps some cycling and a trip to verzy forest.
Does anyone have any recommendations of great restaurants or must visit houses that might suit an adventurous 1 year old without him smashing some valuable bottles? Places to sit and enjoy some champagne while he runs amok in the vineyards ? Good places to eat (cosy not Michelin) either in the region or on the drive from London? Would love to hear any thoughts!
Does anyone know if places in the region are open on Sundays? (Noting most places aren't)
