Can anyone recommend a good, but reasonably priced painter/decorator who could also replaster a small section of wall and make/put up a coat rack.

You should definitely try Pawel at Gradus Dec.

He redecorated my daughter's bedroom (removed wallpaper, re-plastered, painted and created shelves and hanging rails in a very awkward corner of the room) last month and he did an amazing job.

He quoted my for the job rather than per hour which means that when he realised it will take longer due to the bad quality of the walls hidden under the wallpaper, he still charged me the same price.

I used him from recommendations on Nappy Valley website and just texted him, he came to assess the job the next day and a quote the following day!

I second the recommendation for Davor and his team. Hard-working, careful and considerate. They did a great job and managed to squeeze our job in at relatively short notice (he does get booked up). The cost was very reasonable, compared to other quotes.

So, I've not personally used these guys : http://www.wandsworth-builders.co.uk/pa ... ecoration/ but one of my closest friends took advantage of their services a few weeks ago and he was pretty satisfied with that they did. According to him the price was fair and they did the job according to his requests. So, if you are still searching for painters/decorators or any other handyman job in the area, you might give them a try.
