Fab new website to meet like-minded mums!

Postby stayathomemuminsw11 » Fri Jun 27, 2014 12:28 pm

Hi all,

I just wanted to tell you all about a new service for mums and mums-to-be, that helps you to make local friends like you.

Have a look at www.MatchUpMums.com - the first 200 members are free!

The business has been set up by a friend of mine, who is a Nappy Valley mum herself. Even if she wasn't a friend, I would still be recommending it to you all. I think it's a fantastic idea, and I wish there had been something like this when I moved to this area and was at home with my baby daughter!

Great idea ! Well done to your friend for coming up with the concept and launching it.

I also love the frank, honest tone she has on her site.

I wish her lots of success and will recommend it to friends who are pregnant.

This new website is brilliant, lots of my clients have been raving about it. I just heard that there is a discount of 50% on membership at the moment.

Best of luck with this great venture.

Hi, I saw the stall at the Northcote Road fete and thought it was a great idea.

What I'd really like is to write a short profile, and be able to access a register of local mums' profiles, and we could all contact whoever we like the look of :D via the site. Does MatchupMums do this?

What does Bronze membership get you? I can't work it out?

Thanks!

Hi everyone

I was going to leave you all alone (I'm a NVN-er myself so know it gets highly tedious when companies bombard with not-very-subtle-advertising) but as there has been a question or two I thought I should come on as Match Up Mums and say a proper hello.

So, hello! And thank you for the lovely feedback we have had so far.

Pie81 to answer your questions - the profiles are not shown publicly. This is based on our research; we spoke with a lot of mums and mums-to-be before we launched and the consensus was that a service, where the matching is done for you, was preferable to a public gallery - lots felt this could be a bit of a beauty contest, for example. However if there is demand from members and members-to-be for something like that, it is definitely something we would consider trialling, in addition to the matching service, for the future. We really value your feedback and ideas - the business will continue to be shaped by responses like yours - so keep any thoughts coming, please.

Also you asked about bronze membership. Bronze will enable you to get the members' discounts at a mixture of local and national businesses, all mum and baby-friendly, our newsletter, and also to complete the profiling questionnaire so you can see what the process involves - kind of a way for people to learn more about the service and what profiles are based on, currently without paying for it. Obviously our hope is that people will enjoy this experience and see that it could work well for them, and choose to upgrade to full membership so we can match them up with a group.

We have had a great response so far to the new service - it is our 3-week anniversary today, so we are very very new but we have had over 200 members join already and 2,000 people have come to the site for a look. The statistic we are most proud of though is that we have already matched up ten groups - the tenth received their introductory emails last night and are currently agreeing dates to meet in person. So although it isn't as immediate as scrolling through profiles, we don't hang about!

Please feel free to post any questions here, on our Facebook page or contact me through the website. Thanks again for all the feedback, we really appreciate your input.
Match Up Mums x

hi, thanks for your reply, that's very clear! yes I absolutely see what you mean about it being like a beauty contest if it was based on picking from a list of profiles.

Will probably join up when next pregnant! (hopefully soon... sigh)
