Holiday ideas for October half-term Post Reply

I was wondering if i can tap into the NVN collective experience for a recommendation on some nice holiday places for the October half-term break. I would love to go away somewhere nice and warm (such as Maldives, Seychelles, Mauritius, but wonder if that particular period (late October/early November) is actually suitable (due to monsoon months). Would it be better to try those places over Christmas period instead?
Or perhaps is best to look in the Caribbean? Any recommendations that you care to share - we are looking for nice sandy beaches, with family friendly resort, budgetwise - I'm thinking up to £5k for a family of four, but could be adjusted for the right place.

It's about 6hrs flight, and about 34 degrees during the day..

Mauritius is the perfect at this time BUT you may have left it to late to book unless you can miss a couple of days of school as the flights are busy and expensive. The weather would be much more reliable/warmer in October.
