Architect

Postby LP73 » Wed Oct 08, 2014 5:17 pm

We would like to do a full refurbishment of a property and are looking for recommendations for architects in the area to come up with designs.

We are aware that some really like to take on the full projects which we are not opposed to although I am guessing that a % is added on for doing everything and full project management.

We do have time to project manage everything and don't really want to throw away money/ We also have items that we wish to purchase with suppliers directly.

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Dear LP73
Thank you for your repy.
We do not have a website to view the works as we firmly believe the best way to assess works carried out is to view and speak directly to our existing clients. With reference to our architect we would normally arrange a meeting with you along with our architect to discuss the project together as we are usually involved in the design process.
If you would like to discuss further or arrange viewings of our contracts please do not hesitate to contact us.
Regards

Thanks - we really want to see works on a website etc and also speak to an architect before anything else as they may take on all of the works.
Sadly, your option won't work for us but thanks for the reply.

Try this http://gilespike.com/. He did our house for the previous owners and it was an excellent use of space. He's also been based in the area for many years. Best of luck.

Thank you - someone else has mentioned them to us although I understand they only do full projects and we would like options for full and just some of project management.

We are in the process of doing our place and have to say that my experience with Architect have not been great. Once the architect takes over, you don't have much to say about anything.
I like the idea of Payas you go Architect. I think you will have more control on what you want to do in the house.
Good luck with your project

I can highly recommend Quartet Architecture. http://www.quartetarchitecture.com They offer a bespoke service split into stages so you can just get them to do the parts you need them to. They are based in Wandsworth and do a lot of refurbishments in the local area so are very good at understanding the planning process with the council. We used them for a big refurbishment and they were great - very efficient and lovely to deal with.

I won a competition on Nappy valley and, wanting to use the free consultation had the architects (below) come round to my son's flat, despite the fact that we thought we knew exactly what was possible/desirable. They were very VERY good, came up with lots of new ideas, far better than ours, pointed out the problems with our ideas, soled others and produced a sketch drawing & perspectives. When he has enough money it will be done. I cannot recommend them enough!
