German/English bilingual playgroup in Balham

Postby moneypenny. » Fri Oct 22, 2010 11:12 am

Hi there,
are there any mums/dads in Balham/Battersea/Clapham who bring up their kids bilingually (German & English)
Would love to start a little playgroup for German speaking kids. Maybe at Harrisons in Balham, they have a great room downstairs where kids can play + nice food & drinks for grown ups :)
Could read German stories to the kids & maybe sing some kiddie songs in German too. I'm happy to do the music part.
Give me a shout if you're interested.

Hi There
I would be really interested in this
My other half is German but never really speaks to my son in German so it would be great to get some German speaking in him! Unfortunately I don't speak a word of it, but would that matter?
Keep me posted!

Hi!

There is German Play Group near South Wimbledon tube that youa re welcome to join - we meet every Thursday 4pm - 6pm on High Path in St Johns Parish Church Hall. £3 per family to pay for hall and coffee. Recently started doing mini craft sessions and story time. All in German of course!

There are a couple of mums from Balham there.

Email me on info (at) redtedart.com and I can forward on your details to them? You may know them already, as one of them mentioned that Balham mums are trying to organise some regular singing!

All welcome!

Maggy

hi,
I am a German Mom bringing up my 5 1/2 month old daughter in German. I am finding it hard, since my husband is canadian and we speak english in the house when he is home. I am loving the idea of having a german play group. We are based in West Norwood, but traveling to Balham is not a Problem. I also know an Austrian and German Mom who are also intrested in having a bilingual group. Let me know when you want to start the group.

Hello,
would love to know if you have already started a bilingual playgroup. I am also a German mum interested in bringing up my daughter (only 3 months) bilingual. I am up for the singing (was just given the ultimative "Liederbuch).

We have just moved over from Germany and we are a bilingual family with a daughter of 2.5 years and son of 11 months and are doing the bilingual thing as well so we'd love to join a German playgroup as well. We are in Clapham but going to Balham is not a prob.

Hello,

I would be very much interested in joining a bilingual playgroup/coffee morning or similar. Have any of you set one up? If so, do let me know and I'll come along with my little girl. If not, I'd be up for setting something up! I'm based in Clapham Junction but happy to go elsewhere in SW London too!

Hello there,

Stay at home (German) father here. I would love to know if this playgroup has been grounded yet? It would be great if my 7 month old son and I can join in?

(My wife directed me to this website)

Best regards & Bis bald!

Grüße, Mark

Hi

Wonderful idea! we are one parent German, one parent English, kids being raised bi-lingually (8,4,4 and 2). 8 year old quite proficient, the others all understand but not speaking it that much, German parent only speaks German to them. We used to have German au pairs which helped. Anyway would love to join in any playgroup / meet around the Clapham / Balham area, we are around Northcote Road.

Well I think we should just meet up at a nice spot with the kids and take it from there. The more people who join us the better. I am, however, in Chicago this week and will be back and available to start next week (commencing 17th June).

Hope to hear from you

Mark
