Furnishings help- Fan of Fired Earth/White Company

Postby claphamnevey » Mon Dec 01, 2014 5:41 pm

I'm new to the area and am a bit lost in terms of local design showrooms/ retailers in line with my taste which is modern but comfy/homely...

I''m more than a little intimidated by the thought of tackling/choosing a scheme for our living room and kitchen. I'm at the stage where I need some actual creative help- any recommendations ?

I thought it was worth highlighting my taste as I've done really well I think as I've picked up some pieces and saved a good bit (in and around the 6-10% mark on) through Kaa-ching.com. They're basically personal shoppers and they're great when you know exactly what you're looking for but now I need some direction on the aesthetics for the rest of this refurb - as in design help...!

I probably won't order until after Xmas but as I'll have holidays and the kids will be engaged (hopefully, if Santa's done his job right) with their toys for a few hours, I figure I'll have time to check out websites/catalogues and then swoop in for bargains in the sales (or maybe have kaa-ching price check my stuff once I know where I'm at)...

Thanks so much!

Hello
I recently met a lady who might be exactly what you are looking for.
Nicky Vale is a local mum who has just opened the most fabulous interiors shop on the queens town road (near the sainsburys local). The style is eclectic - sort of French vintage, antiques, shabby chic with a few more modern bits.

Nicky is an interior designer by trade so also runs a consultancy service where she will do home visits and advise on everything from sofas, lighting and curtains to tiling and paint colours or just re arrange your existing stuff so that it suddenly looks amazing in the space. She also has a brilliant black book of suppliers and tradesmen and passes on her trade discounts so so far, she has actually saved me a fortune and lots and lots of work (Fired earth tiles included). More importantly though she has un-stalled my project and helped make it fun again.

I would definitely recommend that you give her a call to discuss or she is running a Christmas Fair this thursday, Dec 4th so that could be a good day to pop along.

The shop is called Les Sardines Antiques and Interiors Ltd
42 Queenstown Road, 0207 738 8499

Good luck.

That's exactly the sort of advice I needed and the personal endorsement is really helpful (as sometimes I worry whether there is much substance behind design services).

Thanks so much.

Hello Claphamnevey,

We are launching a new course in the new year with a practical and hands-on approach to decorating a room - I don't know how crafty you are or if you want to be!, but the objective of the course is to provide you with the tools and skills so you can transform any room, including making your own handmade pieces.

It is a 6 week course where you will:
- Define your style and build a moodboard,
- Learn new skills or gain confidence in order to make your own handmade items.
- Get personalised advice (where to source fabrics, furniture, how to's, etc)

Since this is a new course and not everybody feels confident that they will be able to decorate a room with their own hands and skills, I am providing a two hour FREE consultation to go through your challenges, ideas and to help you identify what you could get done during the course.
No obligation at all to book the course after the consultation.

All the details are on our website, http://www.theoldschoolclub.co.uk/cours ... made-home/

Or just drop me an email to book your free slot!

Kind regards,
Inma.
