Help - my flexible working request has been rejected

Postby samk » Tue Nov 09, 2010 2:08 pm

Hi,

I'm due to go back to work in a few weeks and have just found out that my flexible working request has been rejected with no compromise. This makes it impossible for me to return, as the nursery closes at 6 and I can't get there in time to pick my child up. Has this happened to anyone else? Could anyone suggest anywhere where I could get some advice?

Thank you.

How afwul, i really sympathise.
it is not easy and although my flexible hours and days request was accepted before i came back, i am made to feel guilty all the time by my boss.

I understand that you have to offered exactly the role you did before. if you're seeking to change that then they your employers have to consider it but unless you can show a strong case for it, they can reject it.

for instance, is there anyone else working flexible or part time hours in a similar role? you have to support your application that way as in essence it is you who are moving the goalposts, not them.

check out the battersea legal centre as previously posted.

Thank you so much for all your help. I've been down to Battersea Legal Advice Centre and got some great advice and I'll call ACAS today.

Thank you again.
