Postby beep2506 » Thu Jan 29, 2015 8:02 pm

Hi There,

Has anybody used with of these 3 loft conversion companies: Plus Rooms, South London Lofts or Simply Lofts. We have had quotes from all 3 and they are much of a much, just wondering if anyone has any experience with these guys!!

Please avoid Plus Rooms. Using them was the worst decision we ever made. They are super smooth sales people but once you have signed the contract they couldn't care one bit about you or how the project impacts on your family life. Plus Rooms is only a middle man and they subcontract every aspect of the building work and when things go wrong nobody is accountable. Owners only care about the commission they get from building teams, plumbers, electricians and finishings people and in turn these workmen just want to finish their jobs as quickly and cheaply as possible and move on to the next job. Don't even know where to start but to keep a very long and stressful story short: project went over by two months, builders are incentivised to charge you extra for absolutely everything, owners don't have the slightest idea of what customer skills are and when things went wrong they were dishonest, arrogant, rude and plain spiteful. Don't want to bore you with more but feel free to PM me. Best of luck finding a good, decent and honest building company. There must be one out there!

Agree with what you say about Plus Rooms. I also used them for a loft conversion and side return.
Whatever you do make sure you get the contract checked by an expert so that you know who you will sue when things go wrong. Many of these building companies sub-contract all the work (including Plus Rooms when we used them), so if you think you've got some kind of security because you're using a "large" building company, you are very much mistaken.

Also Plus Rooms do not use the councils building inspectors but their own. They'll give you a 10 mins lecture on the reasons, but frankly, when things start going wrong you want somebody who's impartial and does not have a relationship with the people that you've totally lost trust in.

(I expect this post to be removed like all other posts that say anything negative about Plus Rooms)
