Bridge lane nursery latest Ofsted?

Postby Mummyabc » Sun Feb 08, 2015 8:41 pm

My son is due to start at Bridge Lane Nursery near Battersea Park in a few months time and I have seen their latest Ofsted report has awarded a lower grading than the previous outstanding. My understanding that this was awarded in August 2014 and a new rating will be assessed within 6 months of this so it may only be a temporary status.
Does anyone have any experience / view of the nursery as it stands - I have heard very good reports about the nursery and am not currently intending to change my son attending as appreciate that these Ofsted reports don't necessarily reflect the full picture however keen for any personal feedback.

My son attended the nursery for a year and was in their mobile room. We had a rocky start with two biting incidents in which he was the child being bitten. We were very disappointed that the staff hadn't noticed he was bitten the first time until the second or third bite happened. I guess it happens so quickly that they couldn't stop it in time.
Apart from those incidents, I cannot say a bad word about the nursery. The carers were amazing, they knew my son so well. As soon as there were signs of any illness they would watch him very closely and would report what they found straight away. He was really stimulated there with all the wonderful activities they had. The outdoor area was also the best I have seen after viewing a number of nurseries, they allow the children to go out rain, hail or shine which was really important to us.
The other thing to bare in mind though is that they do not administer paracetamol even with the parents consent. This was rather frustrating for both parents working full time as the minute your child gets a high temperature you are asked to pick them up. Their sickness policy is quite strict too.
I took my child out as it was too far from our place. But I'm sure your child will be happy there, it is a wonderful nursery, we're sorry to have left.

Hi,
I was about to post asking the same q so thanks for the above response!
Does anyone else have any feedback? We are also considering whether to go ahead and take our place, or whether to try elsewhere (we are currently part time at Clapham Village but they have no mid week availability, and we had also registered with Bridge Lane).
Thanks very much
