Starting Solids class tomorrow (Thurs 12th)

Postby VickiScott » Wed Feb 11, 2015 11:24 am

'Starting Solids' class in Southfields tomorrow (12th February)from10.00am to midday. Led by midwife Vicki Scott at her home-bring baby with you-plenty of space to feed/look after your baby.
Starting Solids is for mothers (or fathers!) of babies aged 4-7 months, and covers the theory of baby feeding, practical demonstration and is packed full of ideas on what to offer your baby and when to get your baby off to a great start.
This interactive session introduces you and your baby to the world of proper food!
When to start? What to give your baby, and at which feeds? These questions and many more will be answered in a session which is part theory and discussion and part demonstration of home made and shop bought foods.
A pack of notes will be given to you to accompany the session, and to take away with you-so no need to take notes. Our approach is traditional, with elements of 'baby-led weaning'. Starting off with easy to digest, pureed foods, introducing finger foods then moving on to mashed up versions of family meals.
The session covers
When is the right time to introduce your baby to solid foods?
How to tell when YOUR baby is ready
The Three Stages of Weaning – explained.
Which foods to introduce first
How much food to offer your baby
General information on allergies and intolerances
How to menu plan for your baby
How to prepare and cook baby’s first foods
How to store and heat foods safely
What do I need to buy?-looking at equipment
Feeding your baby when out and about
Shop bought foods, convenience foods and snacks
Drinking from a cup
A full folder of user-friendly notes are provided to use at home.
Group class fee is £50 per person. Private courses are also available.
If you would like to discuss the right time to do the course in terms of your baby's age, then do call on 020 8785 3528 or 07960 611987 prior to booking.
I hope to hear from you soon
My best wishes
Vicki Scott
