What is a fair rate please for our nanny to stay overnight?

Postby Bodders1 » Sun Mar 01, 2015 12:38 pm

Hi, I was wondering what people's views were....what would be a fair rate for an overnight stay with our 2 boys aged 6 and 3? Our nanny has requested £10 per hour until 2am and then £6 per hour from 2am until 7am.
I am not sure how this compares to what nannies/child minders would usually charge?

I used to nanny around five years ago and I would be paid (as agreed between myself and the nanny family), nanny rate (£10/hour) up until midnight and then half rate until 7am (or earlier if the children were early wakers, so essentially similar to what your nanny is asking for.

There is nothing better than peace of mind and trusting leaving your children with someone, so it really is worth paying an amount you can both agree to be fair.

Enjoy your time away!

we've paid (to two different nannies), regular rate outside of the child's sleeping hours, and half the regular rate during sleeping hours, for one three year old.

Hi

Until 2am is really high as its normal up to a time they themselves are in bed. We've done upto 10pm £10 an hour and then £5 an hour until 6am (usual wake up) then £10 again.

Hi,

I've worked as a Nanny for the last 13 years. When my family goes away I charge £10 ph until 11 then £5 ph until the children wake up.

I hope this helps!!
