What sort of issues are you experiencing? Our puppy was referred to the queen Mary vet hospital and the vet we've been seeing is great. We now have an extremely happy 1 year old border collie.

I second the above post and would HIGHLY recommend WINKIE SPIERS.

As a dog owner myself I know only too well that you have to be very careful who you choose. So many puppy/ dog trainers are still using old school forceful and cruel training methods. They promise an instant fix and charge exorbitant fees.

While your puppy may do as asked - it is totally for the WRONG reasons. Using force and punishment simply teaches your puppy to fear the owner and the world in general!

Latest research shows that the only acceptable school of puppy / dog training is POSITIVE REWARD BASED - whereby we praise and reward desired behaviours - and ignore unwanted behaviours - rather than punish the puppy/dog.

I'm a qualified behaviourist (degree in canine behaviour and training) and have chosen to be assessed and moderated (APDT). I only use the latest kind, reward based methods.

p.s. I totally agree with Souza! The most important thing is to choose a reward based trainer. If anyone mentions the words 'dominance, pack leader, pack hierarchy or alpha', or suggests you shout 'bah' at your dog then please run a mile!

I second the recommendation of Barry Woods at Mr. Bones. He gives step-by-step instructions that are kind, effective, and scientifically based. We've done 2 sessions with him and noticed immediate improvement in our dog's behavior.

I woudl highly recommend Oli Juste, i found through friends and watched how he helped their dogs and puppies behaviour.

I had done puppy classes previously - and although helped with basics and gave me ideas to help me i realised that needed more help - i considered a number of trainers in the area - but i do think you need to find one that you respect and listen too ( very like baby books Gina Ford v baby whisper ) everyone has differnet thoughts on the best way to train and how this can work in your family unit.
