Just tried AMAZING toddler class - Build It Workshop in CJ

Postby tiny_kiwi » Mon May 25, 2015 10:27 pm

I just wanted to share a great new class I stumbled into in Clapham Junction that focuses on kiddies using their fine motor skills to "build" something - but while doing the activity, they are subtly learning colours, shapes, attention span, following instructions, team work and most importantly, having a load of fun! I found it such a fun and educational class that I want all kids to go... Its called the Built It Workshop.

Its such a new and innovative concept and my daughter absolutely LOVES it! Admittedly the class is mostly little boys however my 2.5 year old daughter beams from ear to ear during the activity as she can see through each step that she is getting closer to the end result.

The teacher Alan is very welcoming and I can tell he really puts a lot of thought and preparation into each class (he even said to me that he tests out the activities on his own kids before the class!) He takes the time to know every kids name and has the patience + humour to keep them engaged.

Its a 45 minute class and split into three sections - the first section is a 15 minute activity at the table where the kiddies get to "build" something - the first week we all built our own section of a train and at the end we connected it all up as it traveled down the table. The next 15 min is free time for them to explore three tables of construction type blocks/tubes/lego etc and the final 15 minutes is a team exercise where they all work together to build a tower - and then they get to topple it over!

This is such a fun class packed filled with so much learning along the way - I cannot recommend it more highly.

Here is a link to the website http://www.thebuilditworkshop.com/ if anyone is interested to learn more.
