I live on Hazelbourne Road and on Friday night a woman was assaulted outside our house. She was walking from the tube around 1am and was attacked from behind, her bag and phone grabbed, and she was thrown to the ground and hit her head.
I spoke to the police who said that this sort of thing is not uncommon in Clapham/ Balham.
Just wanted to warn people as I have heard 2 similar stories recently - and in the daytime too!

Thanks for this reminder - I also wanted to say there have been quite a few cars being broken into in the roads south of Nightingale Lane (Balham side) over night so be careful not to leave anything in your car over night or even in the glove compartment. Very annoying and upsetting....

There was also a violent attack last Tuesday at 6.50pm on Abbeville Road, a man was attacked for his phone and brief case by 3 men, leaving him with nasty injuries.

Horrible to think these things happen in areas we live but certainly a wake up call to be vigilant when out and about.
