Part-time nursery

Postby shona123 » Mon Dec 20, 2010 1:58 pm

Hi there,

I am looking to enrol my 1 year old little girl into a nursery next year but only looking for half days, mornings. Does anyone know of a local nursery that can do this? I am on Battersea Rise so anything walking distance would be ideal.

Many Thanks
Shona

When I went looking for half-days (2 years ago now), I was told they didn't do half days (anywhere) and really the reason is because they can't 'sell' the other half of the day as most of the kids who go to nursery have working parents. I ended up hiring a mother's helper/nanny instead and I really think that was a great alternative. She did so much more than look after my daughter - she cooked, cleaned (took out the nappy pail, etc.,) and could watch both my girls or just one which was much more flexible. Also, because she comes to you, you don't waste half of your time in getting them ready and taking them there, which is a bit more important when you're only looking for half days. The time goes fast!

Not all nurseries open all day. some open only in the mornings.
you need to check what ages they take from though as most will take from 2 years old.

Hi there. Do you know what is my best bet to find a mother's helper? I just moved here from the US and have 3 young one's under 5. Any advice would be helpful .
